Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing refers to all efforts of promoting a brand / product or increasing website traffic through the use of social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Because social media marketing also utilizes the internet, it is considered a channel of digital marketing.

 

 

Social media marketing campaigns are usually focused on the creation of content that is meant to be shared on social media sites while attracting the attention of readers and encouraging them to share it with others on their network. This strategy, referred to as social media optimization (SMO), can be done through two methods: social media pages that are linked to content such as the use of sharing buttons or RSS feeds, or increase activity on social media pages by posting statuses or blog posts that may resonate with a brand or company’s target audience online.

 

These are organic ways of increasing exposure using social media pages, although targeted ads have grown to be increasingly popular in social media as well. Paid ads may be used on pages such as Facebook and Twitter and are thus exposed to a certain demographic, location, or customer behavior that fits the profile of a brand’s target audience.

 

Social Media is accessible by any individual who can log onto the internet and thus is considered a highly effective and popular way of marketing online. Social media sites also provide a platform for increased engagement and communication between brands and their audience in real-time, which leads to a better customer experience. Additionally, it has also become the marketing platform of choice for companies around the world, both big and small, because of social media’s ability to implement large marketing campaigns that can easily reach thousands of people in less than a day at inexpensive costs.

 

Today, most of the customer experience is focused on the web but through social media, companies can now participate in it outside the usual offline channels. However, to succeed with social media marketing, brands must put careful thought and planning into a customized strategy.
